Postpartum Care

Recognizing the special needs of women immediately after giving birth, Kingwood Medical Center provides a dedicated, 25-bed Postpartum Care Unit. Our goal is to create a peaceful surrounding that reduces stress while maximizing patient comfort. An on-site lactation specialist also is available to assist with breastfeeding education.

Nurseries

Our Well Baby Nursery is dedicated to ensuring that you, your new baby and your family are well taken care of during the first few days after your baby arrives. Our compassionate and caring nursing staff is here to help when you may need it most. Lactation consultants are also available to help you successfully begin to breastfeed and serve as resources during your stay. With our family centered approach, we strive to meet your family’s individual needs.

We also care for our tiniest patients in the hospital’s Level II and III Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU), which provide highly specialized care in comforting surroundings. Our Neonatologist works with Neonatal Nurse Practitioners who are staffed on the unit 24/7 along with other specially-trained staff to monitor and care for each of the baby in the unit.
